One thing I help all my patients, clients and students do is to SHIFT STATE.

Because we can only change what we're aware of, and our nervous system only allows healing in it's calm state. 

If you've felt overwhelmed, exhausted or worried recently, you'll know how challenging it can be to get out of that state. 

The worries grow, the overthinking spirals and the problems start to seem insurmountable. 

Meanwhile behind the scenes, the nervous system gets into a tizzy and the body feels the stress, even if you wouldn't necessarily say you feel stressed. Many of my patients say "I don't feel stressed", yet from their array of symptoms it's obvious their body and nervous system are stuck in a stressed state.

I've come to learn that until absolute breaking point, people often don't recognise the stress state for 2 main reasons: 
- they disconnected from themselves a while ago
- the stressed feeling has become their new normal - because they’ve felt it for so long.

Except it's not normal, in fact it’s highly destructive for our body or mind to feel chronically stressed.  Eventually as we accumulate the loads of life, one trivial trigger can tip us over the edge into a debilitating health crisis such as anxiety, excruciating pain, raging perimenopause or burnout. 


So how do we access the desired calmer, flow, healing state? 

There are many effective ways. However, I've found 3 important elements to do so quickly and efficiently and I call it the A B C state shifter: 

A = Awareness
B = Breathe
C = Create desired state

Over the years I've refined the process, and whilst I guide patients, clients and students on an individual basis, this simple AND easy method helps you start to tune in in just a few minutes. If you'd like to feel calmer, clearer or access your healing state, then start by simply listening in above.

Habits Matter

One thing I've learnt in nearly 3 decades of clinical practice, is that you can give a patient what seems like a perfect plan, but if they don’t remember or implement it, it’s useless. I find the simplicity of remembering the A B C method so you can do it any time, any place really helps.

It likely won’t feel like much happens if you do this process just once. Do it every day for a week, even better 21 days, then see if you feel a little more in control of your mind :) . This is often the gateway to deep transformation.
